DECISION ON REVIEW AND ORDER

On July 22, 1991, the Regional Director for Region 3 issued a Decision and Direction of Election in which he found The Child's Hospital to be an acute care hospital as it met the patient stay requirement of less than 30 days as set forth in the Board's Final Rule (the Rule) on collective-bargaining units in the health care industry.1 The Regional Director then directed an election in a unit composed of all the registered nurses (RNs) employed by the Employer, which consisted of The Child's Hospital (the hospital), The Child's Nursing Home (the nursing home), and Samaritan Service Corporation (Samaritan).2 Thereafter, in accordance wi...
